PARO is the 8th generation seal-type robot developed by the AIST in 2001, and considered to be therapeutic due to its healing effect. It is built with different kinds of sensors: a tactile sensor, a feeling when he is stroked; light sensor for light and dark recognition; audio sensor for voice recognition; temperature; and posture sensors, enabling him to feel when he is held.
PARO behaves in the way the user prefers, enabling him to repeat or not to repeat the previous actions. He interacts with people by responding through his legs and head, making sounds, imitating the sound of a baby harp seal, and showing your chosen actions.
